The National Institute of Education Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NIE NTU Singapore) reached its 70th anniversary milestone in 2020. The celebration, however, was only able to take place on 19 March 2021 with full safe distancing measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But as the saying goes, good things come to those who wait. The digital celebration, with the theme “A Virtual Touch of Class”, was attended by some 500 staff.

Hosting the event “live” on location at NIE NTU was celebrity emcee Mr Gurmit Singh, to the delight of everyone who dialled in. Party highlights included lucky draw prizes, digital caricatures, bespoke rhinestone keychains giveaways, and a virtual photo booth. As a run-up to the party, the Staff Welfare Committee (SWC) 19/20 had conducted weekly draws, with participants standing a chance to win mall vouchers.

Kudos to the SWC for organising a great party — a much needed boost to a challenging year!
