The latest public webinar under the popular “Education in the City” series was held on 22 March 2021. These signature talks are organised by the NIE Office of Education Research (OER) in collaboration with the National Library Board.
Speaking on the topic of “Promoting thinking skills in children through quality interaction” were Dr Nirmala Karuppiah, Head (Education) at the Centre for Research in Child Development (CRCD), and Ms N. Pushpavalli, Principal of the Ramakrishna Mission Sarada Kindergarten. The speakers also offered practical tips on providing instructional support for children in the classroom, as well as advice on how to ask (rather than tell) a child to perform a task.
The session was moderated by Dr Yvonne Pek, a lecturer at the National Institute of Early Childhood Development (NIEC).
