Understanding Singapore
  • Professor Joseph Liow receiving a token of appreciation from Professor Low Ee Ling, Dean of Teacher Education.

Singapore Kaleidoscope is a compulsory course that is part of the enhanced Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) Programme. The key objective of this course is to instil in student teachers a deeper and more nuanced appreciation of Singapore’s achievements and challenges.

This year, student teachers got to engage with prominent speakers through two symposia. Notwithstanding the theme, which was “Challenges and Opportunities facing Singapore of the Future”, pertinent issues confronting Singapore today were also covered.

The first symposium was held on 30 January 2019 with Professor Joseph Liow, Dean of College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, NTU, as the guest speaker.

The second guest speaker, Associate Professor Simon Tay, Chairman of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs and Associate Professor, Law Faculty, NUS, met with our students on 20 March 2019.
