The Singapore Perspectives conference is an annual event organised by the Institute of Policy Studies. It aims to engage participants in debates and discussions about public policy challenges in Singapore.
NIE was privileged to attend this year’s conference, and was represented by five student teachers from the Bachelor of Science (Education) and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programmes. During the conference, the student teachers learned and developed a deeper appreciation of the trends and contexts, headwinds and opportunities, as well as people and planet factors affecting complex decision-making processes across global cities.
“The conference affirmed our beliefs as teachers-to-be,” the NIE delegates told NIEWS. Like thriving global cities of tomorrow, the school environment should serve as a centre of knowledge exchange and arbitrage, as well as a hotbed of innovation and creativity. It is the duty of teachers to build an environment that is inclusive and open, trustworthy and respected, they shared.
NIE’s representation at the Singapore Perspectives conference was facilitated by the Office of Teacher Education (OTE).
