Dr Koh Koon Teck, Head of the Physical Education and Sports Science Academic Group, was elected Honorary Secretary of Basketball Association of Singapore (BAS) at the Annual General Meeting of the BAS held on 30 June 2019.

BAS is Singapore’s official affiliate to the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), an association of national organisations governing the sport of basketball worldwide. The BAS aims to promote and advance the development of the game of basketball in Singapore.

As part of his duties as Honorary Secretary of BAS, Dr Koh will spearhead the planning of all annual basketball activities at the national level, and attend to all correspondences on behalf of BAS.

Before becoming Honorary Secretary, Dr Koh was Chairman of the BAS’s Coaching and Development Committee, where he formulated policies and programmes to promote and develop basketball as a sport in Singapore. As the manager and sport scientist to the national basketball team, he was instrumental to Singapore’s historic medal at the South East Asia Games in 2013, 34 years after the last medal was won. Dr Koh continues to serve as Advisor to the new Coaching & Development Committee.
