In line with the bicentennial of the founding of modern Singapore, the Humanities and Social Studies Education (HSSE) Academic Group in partnership with the National Museum of Singapore will be organising a conference to re-assess some of the most significant turning points in the modern history of the Asia Pacific and the world.
Titled “Re-thinking History: Singapore and Global History”, the conference will explore reappraisals of Singapore history, regional Southeast Asian history, Asian history, and global history. Historical issues and key events that have impacted and changed the lives and thinking of the people in the region and globally will also be examined.
Joining the conference are prominent speakers and historians that include Professor Barbara Watson Andaya from the University of Hawaii in USA, Associate Professor Robert Bain from the University of Michigan in USA, Professor Karl Hack from the Open University in the UK, and Associate Professor Ryoko Nakano from Kanazawa University in Japan.
