Prof Pam Grossman (Dean, Graduate School of Education, University of Pennsylvania) was appointed the 13th CJ Koh Professor in Education, from 24 to 28 Sep 2018.
Outstanding professors in the field of education are hosted by the National Institute of Education under the CJ Koh Professorship in Education programme. During Prof Grossman’s appointment, she visited a secondary school where she observed an English lesson, was in conversation with our pre-service student teachers and our graduate students. A courtesy call was made to the 2nd Minister for Education, Ms Indranee Rajah where recent trends and challenges surrounding education was discussed. NIE Director and Senior Leadership members also called on Prof Grossman where they had fruitful exchanges, tapping on each other’s expertise and knowledge. Prof Grossman also delivered an NIE Seminar, titled “Future-Ready Teacher Education for Future-Ready Teachers: An International Perspective” on 26 Sep 2018 to faculty and staff, and a Public Lecture, titled “Future-Ready Teachers for Future-Ready Learners: An International Perspective” on 27 Sep 2018 to an audience of education policy makers, educators and education leaders.
