The use of virtual and augmented reality to enhance the experience of NIE Library users was the subject of a poster presentation at the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions' (IFLA) World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 24 to 30 August 2018.
Titled "Library Tour Using Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality: The NIE Library Experience", the poster highlighted the introduction of virtual reality tools in the NIE Library portal, as well as the development of "pop-up books" using augment reality to preserve the condition of fragile books in the restricted collections. | Read More |
The NIE poster bagged second prize among 122 global entries shortlisted for the poster session. It was a team effort by Mr Douglas Lau, Ms Sandie Loo, Mr Jacky Wong and Mrs Wan-Yeoh Seok Kwan. The poster sessions at the WLIC provide an international platform for library professionals to showcase their projects.
The IFLA is an international body representing the interests of libraries and professionals in information services. The WLIC is an annual trade event organised by the IFLA.
