The LFTA were the first awards in Singapore to honour excellence in both early childhood and special needs educators. Established in 2013 and sponsored by The Leading Foundation, the awards were made possible through donations from Professor Lim Siong Guan and Ms Joanne Lim, co-authors of the books “The Leader, The Teacher & You” and “Winning with Honour”.

Nominees of the awards include edu-carers, pre-school educators, special school educators, and allied educators providing learning and behavioural support. The judging panel comprises experts from MOE, NIE and the Association for Early Childhood Educators (Singapore), who are looking for exemplary instances of how the nominees consistently demonstrate exceptional dedication. This includes going beyond the call of duty to care for their young charges’ well being and to make an extraordinary difference in their lives and the lives of their families.
