As part of NIE's virtual National Day celebrations this year, a Literary MRT Map of Singapore Competition was organised in August 2020. The competition was organised by Writers @NIE in collaboration with the National Education Committee. Writers @NIE is committee established by the English Language and Literature Academic Group and the National Institute of Education Library.
Avid readers of Singapore literature were invited to identify novels, short stories, poems and plays set in Singapore and locate them on the stations of Singapore’s MRT map. Submissions were entered into a raffle and winners were drawn at random.
The competition drew and encouraging response from both faculty and students. The prize winners, Ms Jana Lim (first prize), Ms Ann Ang (second prize) and Ms Shermaine Kho (third prize) were awarded book vouchers.
Although the competition has closed, readers can continue to offer their suggestions and contribute to the growing Literary MRT Map of Singapore found at https://nielibris.wixsite.com/singaporemrt.
