Report Card / Happy 70th Birthday, NIE!

The story of National Institute of Education as Singapore’s national teacher education institute began on 1 March 1950 with the establishment of Teachers’ Training College on Cairnhill Road. We are proud to have remained an integral part of Singapore’s education service over the last 70 years, contributing not only in initial teacher preparation, teacher professional development and school leadership programmes, but also in high-impact research in education and other academic disciplines.

To mark the start of our 70th anniversary celebration, National Institute of Education has unveiled a commemorative logo, commissioned a video incorporating rare footages and interviews entitled “Walking Down Memory Lane: The NIE Story”, and designed a limited-edition souvenir notebook. To encapsulate the spirit of our mission, the theme of National Institute of Education’s celebration is “70 Years of Inspiring Learning, Transforming teaching, Advancing Research”.

We hope that these items would encourage us to continue in our mission to inspire learning, transform teaching and advance research. Click here to view the video.
