The Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC) has presented three seminars and two workshops showcasing how the science of learning research informs educational practice.

The first seminar (26 January 2022) by Professor Marian Bakermans-Kranenburg from the Leiden University was on the neuroscience of attachment, where cross-cultural and individual differences in the way children develop relationships were examined.

In the second seminar (24 February 2022), Dr Darren Yeo from NTU's School of Social Sciences gave an interesting talk on the way the adult brain processes and reads Arabic numerals.

The third seminar (28 March 2022) featured Dr Elaine Tham from the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), who spoke about the role of cognitive development in school readiness, citing the studies on infant sleep trajectories.

The two workshops (23 February and 23 March 2022) were led by Professor Bakermans-Kranenburg, who drew discussions on how differential susceptibility affected parenting and child outcomes, as well as the cultivation of prosocial behaviour, respectively.

Attendees had engaging discussions on applying some of these research findings in their respective professional settings.
