Associate Professor Koh, whose specialty includes basketball as well as coach education and development, had been invited by FIBA to deliver the ‘FIBA Coach Clinic Level 1’ held at Tap Seac and San Koi stadiums from 23 to 28 December 2018. | Read More |
The course was mainly taught in English, supplemented by Mandarin to help coaches learn better. Seventeen participants with extensive coaching experience participated in the course. They were impressed by the training approaches employed throughout the course.
One of the participants expressed: “I have never experienced a programme like this and I learnt a lot about coaching methodology from Dr Koh.” Another coach remarked, “He always focused on the basis of the game, and would encourage us to breakdown each step of the manoeuvre when teaching a new move. This helps players understand how and when to use the technique. It has been meaningful and interesting.”
Participants have to pass the practical coaching assessment and written test before being awarded the FIBA coaching license, which is recognised worldwide.
