NIE is proud to host 2012 Cultural Medallion winner, Milenko Prvacki, as the artist-in-residence for this semester’s Visiting Artist Programme (VAP).
Milenko began his artistic career in his native country, the former Yugoslavia, and had established himself in Europe before moving to Singapore in 1991. Since then, the prolific artist has deeply enriched the Singapore visual arts scene and has been widely consulted on various issues related to the arts in Singapore. Milenko is also one of Singapore’s foremost art educators and a cultural icon of LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore where he has become an inspiration for many young Singaporean artists. His largest work can be found in the mosaic decorations that line the Dhoby Ghaut MRT station. | Read More |
The NIE VAP is a signature programme designed to develop the arts, and arts education in Singapore. Under the programme, professional artists from the visual arts, music and drama are invited to be part of the NIE community for four months per semester. During their residency here, these industry professionals will teach undergraduate or postgraduate modules related to their areas of expertise, and conduct engaging workshops, master classes or projects. The programmes are open to all staff and students from NIE and NTU, as well as in-service teachers. The undergraduate elective modules taught by the visiting artist are open to all NIE and NTU students.
The VAP creates exciting and enriching opportunities for the NIE and NTU community to interact, learn from and collaborate with renowned industry experts in new works of arts. The programme also aspires to nurture new artistic talent and develop the potential of young artist educators and art lovers.
Details on the Milenko’s teaching module for the January 2019 semester, project work with final year Bachelor of Arts students, and public lecture on “Materialisation of Ideas in the Arts” can be found here. To register, email jiamin.law@nie.edu.sg.
