A webinar on “Educating for the Future: Why artistic thinking is important for academic excellence and emotional resilience” was organised by the Office of Education Research (OER) on 4 November 2020. The topic was based on the book Artistic Thinking in Schools: Towards Innovative Arts /in/ Education Research for Future-Ready Learners, published by OER Research Scientist, Dr Pamela Costes-Onishi.

The webinar also featured Dr Khek Bee Lian and Dr Jennifer Wong, both from the Visual & Performing Arts Academic Group, and Dr Caren Carino, from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, who spoke about the chapters they contributed in the book. They also presented their views on why arts in education was required to nurture the holistic dispositions needed for preparing a future-ready generation. The engagement concluded with a questions and answer session moderated by Dr Costes-Onishi.
