The Master of Arts in Professional Education (MAPE) (Training and Development) is a specialised programme launched in 2015 for education professionals and individuals in adult, professional and higher education. The inaugural cohort of 16 educators received their degrees at an NTU convocation ceremony held on 24 July 2018.
One of them was Ms Kwek Meek Lin, a Lead Teacher from Raffles Girls’ School (Secondary). She said the programme provided a broad perspective of professional development as it brought together professionals from different industries including education, healthcare, insurance, defence and human resource. “This made the learning experience insightful and most enriching,” she added. | Read More |
For Ms Mary Foo, a training manager in the financial industry, the new theories and ideas were important in her role as an adult educator. Mary also valued learning how to conduct critical reviews of the training and development functions in her organisation such as training needs analysis, programme evaluation, instructional strategies and methodologies.
Developed by NIE in collaboration with the Institute for Adult Learning, the MAPE (T&D) is a unique programme focused on industry-relevant knowledge and competencies. Incorporating the latest learning theories balanced with applied and experiential learning, the programme seeks to equip graduates with the ability to design and lead programmes in training and development, workplace learning, coaching and mentoring.
