Meet Our Senior Leadership Team

At NIE, leadership renewal is part and parcel of organisational growth. With their expertise in learning innovations and technologies, evidence-based pedagogies and education research, our new leadership team is all set to advance NIE’s long-standing distinction as a leading teacher education institution in Singapore and the world. NIEWS asked the team members to share their aspirations for their respective roles.

Professor Christine Goh
NIE Director
“People who dare to dream big and yet stay connected to their environments and the people they serve are a source of inspiration for me. I will endeavour to be this kind of leader for NIE as our institution moves forward in creating new knowledge and directions for teaching, learning and research.”
Professor Low Ee Ling
Dean, Teacher Education
“I am deeply committed to Nurturing Inspirational Educators. The purpose of teacher education is to develop professional competencies that can ultimately improve student-learning outcomes and help each and every child fully realise their potential. My goal is to prepare future-ready teachers for future-ready learners through rigorous, research-informed teacher education programmes.”
Professor John Wang
Dean, Graduate and Professional Learning
”In taking up this appointment, I’d like to be remembered as a people developer who empowers individuals for self-growth, a leader who equips staff with the autonomy and competencies to bring NIE to greater heights, and as someone who genuinely cares about creating a nurturing work environment for everyone.”
Professor David Hung
Dean, Education Research
“My main priority would be to strengthen integration between Office of Education Research and the Academic Groups through our research and teaching roles. I hope to create a rich institutional research culture that involves close inter-faculty partnerships, and to achieve a research-practice nexus that can positively impact our future learning vision and mission.”
Professor Rebecca Ang
Dean, Academic and Faculty Affairs
“I believe my experience as faculty member and administrator will provide me with valuable insights into the issues faced by our Academic Group heads and faculty. Yet, if I could choose a superpower for my new role, I’d pick wisdom – to help navigate both the opportunities and challenges in academic and faculty affairs!”
Associate Professor Chang Chew Hung
Chief Planning Officer
“I’m looking forward to building on the strong foundations of my predecessors, and to steering all NIE faculty and staff towards a common strategic vision. My aspiration is for NIE to continue on the path of excellence in leading the future of education – something we’re known for both locally and internationally.”
Mr Kristopher O’Brien
Divisional Director, Academic Computing and Information Services (ACIS)
“I’m excited about working closely with the NIE community to deliver solutions that are both effective and innovative. The rapidly changing IT landscape brings great opportunities to change the way we work and learn. My division therefore can play a very central and critical role to positively impact teaching and learning, research and administration.”
Mr Chan Tee Miang
Divisional Director, Corporate Planning and Development
“I’m honoured to be part of the new team taking NIE to the next level. I hope that my administrative expertise and experience can add richness to the discussions and enhance decision-making. I also hope to contribute to NIE by growing in my job – attempting new things, learning new insights, and developing new skills.”
