Meet Our “Oscar” Winners

The NIE Staff Awards are the equivalent of the “Academy Awards” on the NIE campus, presented in recognition of teaching, research, service and innovation excellence. A total of 39 individuals and teams, along with 101 long-service award recipients, were honoured by Professor Tan Oon Seng, NIE Director and the NIE management team at a ceremony held during NIE’s Annual Staff lunch on 3 February 2018.

The Excellence in Teaching Commendation Award recognises the dedication and achievements of 29 faculty members from 12 Academic groups who display excellent teaching practices and enrich the learning experiences of their students.

The Excellence in Research Award accords the highest recognition to NIE staff members who have made outstanding contributions in extending the frontiers of research and knowledge. This year’s outstanding researchers were from the Office of Education Research, as well as the Natural Sciences and Science Education, Psychological Studies and Physical Education and Sports Science Academic Groups.

The Excellence in Service Award recognises the professionalism, commitment and dedication of staff members who go the extra mile to provide excellent service to NIE staff, students and external stakeholders. This year, there were three individual and four team winners, in addition to three individual and two team winners who received the Commendation Award.

The NIE Innovation Award recognises staff members and teams who proactively look for improvements in their work and take effort to test new ideas and fresh perspectives to produce positive and impactful outcomes for the departments and NIE. The award went to two team recipients this year.

Congratulations to our long service award recipients

The NIE Long Service Award is presented to staff members who exemplify loyalty and commitment through their long service. Leading this year’s honourees were Mrs Low Chwee Tee Nee Sze, Mdm Jaiton Bte Ibrahim, and Mrs Chan-Chua Lee Kiang, who have each dedicated 40 years of service to NIE.
