NIE recently welcomed Professor Richie Poulton as the 12th CJ Koh Professor of the CJ Koh Professorship in Education and Endowment Fund. Professor Poulton is the Director of the Dunedin Multidisciplinary Health and Development Research Unit at the University of Otago, New Zealand. As CJ Koh Professor, he spoke on how self-control was a key factor that contributed to a person’s success in life. These findings were extracted from the Unit’s ongoing longitudinal research of 1,037 babies born from 1972 to 1973 in Dunedin, New Zealand. His talk at the CJ Koh Professorial NIE Lunch Seminar was attended by Mr Lee Poh Wah, CEO of Lien Foundation, while the CJ Koh Professorial Public Lecture was attended by His Excellency Dr Jonathan Austin, Ambassador for New Zealand. Professor Poulton has been interviewed by The Straits Times and appeared live on CNA Digital and CNA Singapore Tonight. The 8th edition of the CJ Koh Professorial Lecture Series is based on his lectures and will be published in 2018.
