OER Professional Development Webinars

The Office of Education Research (OER) Professional Development Committee, in collaboration with the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice (CRPP), delivered two professional development webinars in the month of September. The first was on “Teacher Professionalism and Learning: Local Research Evidence for Practitioners and Schools”, and the second was on “Making Research on Well-being Accessible and Meaningful to Practitioners”. In total, both sessions drew over 200 attendees from around the world.

The panel speakers for the session on teacher professionalism and learning on 9 September 2021 were Dr Phillip Towndrow, CRPP Senior Research Scientist; Dr Jeanne Ho, CRPP Senior Teaching Fellow; and Dr Chong Sau Kew, OER Research Fellow. Dr Pamela Costes Onishi from CRPP served as moderator for the discussion attended by 77 school leaders, teachers, researchers and policy makers from Singapore and overseas.

The session on well-being was held on 25 September 2021. The speakers for the panel session were Associate Professor Ronnel B. King from the University of Hong Kong, Dr Imelda Caleon from OER and Mr Nick Chan from Northbrooks Secondary School. The discussant for the session was Mr David Kwek from the Gifted Education Branch of the Curriculum Planning and Development Division, Ministry of Education. Dr Munirah Shaik Kadir from CRPP served as the moderator for the session attended by 127 educators from Singapore and the ASEAN region.
