The annual QS World University Rankings compares the global standing of top universities around the world. Institutions are evaluated based on six metrics: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio and international student ratio. In 2021, the QS rankings by Subject covered a total of 51 disciplines. Outcomes serve as a benchmark to help prospective students determine the leading universities based on a particular subject.
Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, has been making excellent progress over the years in the QS World University Rankings for sports-related subjects. In 2021, NTU ranked 32nd in the world and 2nd in Asia under this category.
The Physical Education and Sports Science (PESS) Academic Group headed by Associate Professor Koh Koon Teck has been a key contributor to the steady improvement in rankings over the last four years. “The ranking is a validation of PESS’ commitment and dedication to delivering high-quality training in physical education and sports science. Our mission is to equip learners with the competence and expertise to teach PE as a major subject, and to meet the growing demand for stronger and better qualified professionals to lead in supporting high performance athletes and running world-class sports events within and outside of Singapore. We have a team of faculty members whose diverse backgrounds and expertise enable us to provide research-driven programmes and quality learning experiences. I’d like to share this honour with my PESS colleagues, without whom the achievement would not have been possible,” Associate Professor Koh told NIEWS.
Congratulations to the PESS team for flying the NTU flag high!
