The Leading Foundation Teacher Award (LFTA) is an annual award which aims to recognise passionate and dedicated teachers who have made significant contributions to the care and teaching of children in the fields of early childhood and special needs education. These are the teachers who have put in commendable efforts to make a difference in the lives of children.
The LFTA is made possible by the Leading Foundation which was established by Mr Lim Siong Guan (Prof at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, NUS, and Advisor to the Group Executive Committee of GIC) and his daughter, Ms Joanne Lim. The Leading Foundation is administered by the Community Foundation of Singapore.
This marks the fourth year the LFTA ceremony is organised by the Early Childhood and Special Needs Education Academic Group since the award was launched in 2014. The LFTA ceremony was held on 10 November 2017 at Lecture Theatre 5, NIE.
Mr Lim’s wife, Mrs Jennifer Lim, was the Guest of Honour for the event where she presented awards to the four outstanding winners. It was especially meaningful because Mrs Lim is herself a teacher and one of the awards is dedicated to her. The award recipients were chosen by a panel of experts from a pool of educators who were nominated by their respective schools.
